I propose an answer drawn from the realm of the voice and art.
In art, there are niches where respectful approaches
to the world and everything in it have survived.
There, we can find values and practices that help us develop this new attitude.
Voice and vocal art have always been a means of connecting not only with other people,
but also with the more-than-human world. We can build on that!
The ideas that Ralf Peters will present are based on the insights
yielded by the artistic research

Some familiarity with the fields of voice and art is helpful, but not essential.

How to live in a Wounded World?

A workshop for you
- if you’re wondering how you should respond personally to the environmental crises;
- if you want to learn to understand your voice as a means of connecting with the human and non-human worlds;
- if you’re looking for artistic approaches to addressing the wounded world.
In this seminar, we combine:
- free and guided vocal work
- reflections on art in a wounded world
- the development of art-motivated practices
- sharing of personal experiences and questions
A workshop day includes, amongst other things:
connecting the voice with the four elements (practical)
insights into vocal ecotism and the voice within the world (theoretical)
exchange and discussion (conversation)
working with objects and places (practical)
Goal:
Participants will be given ideas
for developing a new and more respectful attitude towards our wounded world.
They will gain a new understanding of their own voice in the context of life and our world.

Making Art in a Wounded World?
This seminar is for you if you
- are looking for ways to integrate environmental issues into your artistic work.
- want to explore the voice as a gateway to the non-human world
- are wondering what role art should play in environmental transformation.
In this seminar, we combine:
free and guided work with the voice
reflections on art in a damaged world
first steps towards your next art project
A seminar day includes, amongst other things:
vocal practice and exercises
insights into vocal ecotism and the voice in the world
work with objects and places
development of a new project
Goal:
Participants will receive inspiration
for developing a new personal art project,
which opens up options for integrating ecological issues into their own practice;
new ideas for the role of art in a wounded world;
suggestions for an individual practice aimed at developing a respectful attitude towards the world and everything in it.

Proposal 3 – Seminar (1 or more days):
Voice in Context of Life
This seminar is for you if you:
- want to connect deeply with your voice
- would like to discover an approach to voice development that integrates the four elements
- would like to listen to your own and others’ voices in a playful way.
In this seminar, we combine:
free and guided work with the voice
exploring the voice through the four elements
vocal exercises, both individually and with others
A seminar day includes, amongst other things:
exercises to open up the vocal field
insights into the theory of vocal elements
intensive one-to-one work with the voice (in longer courses)
Listening exercises
Goal:
Participants experience their voice in an intensive and often novel way.
Through the integration of the four elements, other fascinating aspects of one’s own voice come to light.
The connection to the voice is strengthened and space is created for vocal freedom.
Duration: 1–5 days (flexibly adaptable)

Proposal 4 – short participatory workshop:
The Choir of the Elements
This programme is for you if you
- are organising a conference, a training course or a festival that explores the connection between
art, culture and ecology.
- wish to combine fundamental ecological and social issues
with a shared vocal practice.
This programme offers a brief, practical and participatory insight into working with the elements, as developed through the ‘vocal ecotism’ research project. Using various forms of vocal expression – ranging from spoken language to free vocal intervention – participants engage with one or more of the four elements, thereby creating a choir. Duration: 90 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the number of participants.

Lectures
Voice and Art in a Wounded World
I offer talks on vocal ecotism topics, which are suitable for conferences, festivals and the like,
where ecological issues are addressed from a cultural perspective.
Details such as the exact title, duration and focus can be agreed upon together depending on the occasion.
